The Indian Government has introduced key amendments to the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic, or Mixed) (Control) Order, 1985. This Order was notified on 19th July, 2023 and comes into immediate effect.
The modified Order aims to regulate the production and usage of Fermented Organic Manure and Liquid Fermented Organic Manure. These modifications, aim to enhance the effectiveness and application of these organic fertilisers in agricultural practices.
For both, “Fermented Organic Manure” and “Liquid Fermented Organic Manure” the following modifications have been introduced:
- the permissible range of certain components in the product has been increased from “<20” to “upto 30”.
- the pH range has also been adjusted from “6.5-8.0” to “6.5-8.4”, accommodating a slightly broader range for optimal performance.
- a new Note has also been inserted mandating every manufacturer to explicitly mention on the bags that Fermented Organic Manure must be applied 15-25 days before crop sowing in the field. This addition seeks to provide farmers with clear instructions for optimal usage.
