The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an SOP for obtaining endorsement of Vegan Logo. This SOP dated 24th April, 2023 was published on 7th August, 2023.
It may be recalled that FSSAI had issued the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022 on 10th June, 2022.
Subsequently, on 24th February, 2023 FSSAI issued revised guidelines for endorsement of vegan logo and formats for approval from the Authority.
Once approval in Form B is granted as per the guidelines, Food Business Operators (FBOs) shall apply for endorsement of Vegan Logo to the concerned Licensing Authority on the FoSCos portal.
The FSSAI has also provided a user manual for applying/ obtaining the endorsement of Vegan Logo. Once the logo is endorsed on the licence, the FBO will be eligible to endorse it on their products.
