In a recent directive issued by the Dental Council of India (DCI), dental colleges across the nation have been instructed to upload the details of students admitted to MDS/PG Diploma courses for the academic year 2023-24 on the DCI website. This notice was issued on 28th August, 2023.

This move aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the admission process and to adhere to the prescribed deadline of October 10, 2023, for the academic year 2023-24.

The directive emphasizes that all dental institutions must utilize their newly allotted login credentials for admissions, available at DCI Portal, to upload the student details without fail by 12:00 midnight on October 10, 2023. Any admissions claimed after this deadline will invoke Section 10B of the Dentists (Amendment) Act, 1993, and/or Section 16A of the Dentists Act, 1948, resulting in potential consequences for the respective dental institutions.

To ensure a seamless process and prevent last-minute complications, dental institutions are strongly urged to upload student details gradually, immediately after the joining of students in each counseling round. This proactive approach will mitigate undue pressure and technical glitches that may arise on the cutoff date.

Furthermore, the DCI has expressed concern about instances where dental colleges upload details of students who have not actually been admitted, causing complications for the colleges where students are genuinely enrolled. Dental institutions are warned against uploading details of students without authentic admissions, and they are reminded that they bear the responsibility of providing accurate information. DCI retains the authority to initiate actions or penalties against institutions found to be furnishing incorrect information.

It is important to note that only student details uploaded on the DCI portal will be forwarded to the State Dental Councils/Tribunals for the addition of MDS qualifications. Any details received through other formats, such as email or hard copy, will not be considered.

The DCI strongly emphasizes that requests for deadline extensions, technical issues, or other excuses will not be entertained. All concerned parties are urged to ensure that necessary arrangements are in place to meet the deadline promptly, thereby avoiding any potential legal issues and facilitating timely actions by the Council.

For technical support and assistance, dental colleges can reach out to the DCI at [email protected] or by calling 011-23238542.

The DCI has called upon all relevant authorities to ensure full compliance with these directives to maintain the integrity of the admission process for MDS/PG Diploma courses for the academic year 2023-24.
