The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued directions to all Commissioners of Food Safety of all States and UTs to monitor sale of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in Markets. This notice is dated November 21, 2023.

Authorities shall undertake surveillance/ enforcement measures at regular intervals in a planned manner. It shall be ensure that the FBOs comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and its Rules and Regulations.
Furthermore, the authorities shall also convey these issues to consumers through awareness campaigns under Eat Right India Initiatives. This may be undertaken through various Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities.
