The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a directive to all FSSAI notified laboratories to implement QR Code authentication. This authentication must be implemented for test reports of Fortified Rice (FR). The FSSAI has issued an order in respect of this authentication dated December 13, 2023.

According to the previous mandates issued by FSSAI, laboratories approved for testing of Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), and Vitamin Premix for Fortified Rice Kernel were instructed to mandatorily upload the test reports of samples on the INFoLNET portal and FoSCoS portal.

Now, by the present order, all FSSAI notified laboratories are now directed to provide a QR code on all test reports issued by them. This applies to the testing of the following products:

This QR code can be scanned using any QR scanning application available on mobile or any device, enabling authentication and online reproduction of the test report.

The directive aligns with the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) order dated 18/05/2021. This directive aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the testing and reporting processes related to Fortified Rice and its components. Laboratories are urged to promptly implement this QR code authentication measure, ensuring that stakeholders can easily verify the authenticity of testing reports through a simple and accessible method.
