The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Recycling of Lead Scrap and Used Lead Acid Batteries. This also includes lead acid battery plates, rains, rinks, radio, racks, rakes, ropes, rono, rents, relay, rails and other lead scrap/ ashes/ residues, etc. This SOP was issued on January 4, 2024.
The SOP specifies the requirements for seeking permission for import of lead scrap and used lead acid batteries for recycling.
It also includes guidelines for grant of authorization for recycling facilities.
