The Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways along with the Chief Minister of Assam laid the foundation stone for the Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy (CRIYN) and a 100-bedded Yoga & Naturopathy hospital at Dihing Khamtighat. A press release was issued on January 28, 2024.
The institution has 15 acres (45 bighas) of land and will see an investment of approximately ₹100 crores. Its primary objective is to establish a robust synergy between the traditional knowledge of Yoga and Naturopathy and modern technological tools. With a focus on education, preventive healthcare, and research, the institute aims to set benchmark standards in the field.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister highlighted the institute’s role in harnessing Assam’s rich biodiversity to drive growth in the Ayush sector, hospitality, patient care, and medical tourism.
Furthermore, the CM praised the support extended by the Union Government, particularly in strengthening the medical infrastructure across Assam. He underscored the importance of Naturopathy and Yoga in not only treating ailments but also rejuvenating mind and body.
The Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy will offer clinical training facilities, focusing on areas such as cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes management, autoimmune diseases, and non-communicable disease (NCD) risk reduction. The hospital’s services will encompass inpatient, outpatient, and day care facilities, offering a range of treatments including naturopathy diet and nutrition, yoga therapy, massage & manipulative therapies, acupressure, acupuncture, physiotherapy, and hydrotherapy.
The institute’s research and development endeavors will lead to evidence-based protocols for managing NCDs, integrating traditional care with conventional medicine, thus promoting an integrated approach to patient care.
