The Central Government, in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, has issued a notification specifying the requirements for self-ballasted LED lamps used for general lighting services. This notification was issued on 27th June, 2023.
The notification states that self-ballasted LED lamps for general lighting services having rated power from 3 watts to 35 watts, that work on single phase alternating current supply up to and including 250V, 50 Hz are specified for the purpose of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
Therefore, any such appliances or class of appliances being manufactured or sold or purchased or imported for sale shall display particulars on labels in such manner, as specified in the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Self-ballasted LED Lamps), Regulations, 2023.
