As a part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a nationwide initiative, the CEO of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) undertook a visit to Kardnur village in the Sangareddy district of Telangana. This visit took place on December 24, 2023 and a press release was issued on January 2, 2024.
During his visit, the CEO reiterated the commitment to saturate the benefits of central government schemes across the nation, with a special focus on reaching the unreached sections of society. He emphasized the significance of proper implementation and timely redressal of grievances related to public health, aligning with Union Health Minister’s directives.
Engaging with the local community, he conducted awareness programs about various government schemes. He inquired about the medical benefits, food habits, and lifestyle of the villagers, seeking firsthand knowledge to better address the community’s needs.
The CEO of FSSAI actively encouraged the adoption of millet-based food and advocated for the reduction of salt and sugar intake to promote healthier lifestyles. He also shed light on the advantages of central government initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, emphasizing their transformative impact on public health.
During discussions, he highlighted the role of ASHA workers in creating awareness and stressed the importance of fortified rice in combating anemia. He urged the health department to actively promote fortified rice as a crucial step towards achieving the goals of Anemia Mukt Bharat.
