The Ministry of Power has taken a significant step towards accelerating the adoption of clean technologies and enhancing India’s global energy transition contributions. The ministry has established a specialized Centre of Excellence named UTPRERAK (Unnat Takniki Pradarshan Kendra), also known as the Advanced Industrial Technology Demonstration Centre (AITDC). A press release on the same was issued on 26th June, 2023.
This pioneering initiative, developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), aims to play a pivotal role in improving the energy efficiency of Indian industries.
The Centre of Excellence is located at the Badarpur campus of the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Ministry of Power in New Delhi. It will serve as a catalyst for the industrial sector’s adoption of energy-efficient technologies.
UTPRERAK, as the Centre is commonly referred to, will emerge as the go-to institution for industrial energy-efficient technologies. The Advanced Industrial Technology Demonstration Centre will exhibit and demonstrate cutting-edge energy-efficient technologies across key industry sectors. Serving as an exhibition cum information centre and knowledge repository, it will facilitate knowledge exchange among industry professionals through workshops and seminars.
With the Indian government’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development, the Centre of Excellence’s role in accelerating the adoption of energy-efficient technologies becomes paramount. By showcasing practical solutions and promoting knowledge sharing, UTPRERAK aims to create a positive impact on India’s energy landscape.
