The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has issued an Office Memorandum (OM) requesting the manufacturers of genset and genset engines to submit details of orders to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). This OM was dated on 22nd June, 2023.
It may be recalled that MoEFCC had issued the Environment (Protection) Fourth Amendment Rules, 2023 on 14th June, 2023. These Amendment Rules revised the general condition relating to transition provisions for Gensets and Genset engines manufactured as per earlier norms. The Amendment Rules stated that the supply of genset and genset engine in respect of which purchase order has been received by the manufacturer on or before the 30th June, 2023 would be permitted up to the 30th June, 2024 as per defined norms.
Now therefore, the MoEFCC has decided that the exemption from revised standards for genset and genset engines will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:
- All genset and genset engine manufacturers and suppliers must submit details of confirmed purchase/ supply orders received from end users or their suppliers
- This applies to orders received up to 30th June, 2023
- These details must be submitted to CPCB by 31st July, 2023
- Only those manufacturers and suppliers who comply with these conditions will be entitled to avail of the said exemptions
