The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has tentatively scheduled the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) Screening Test for June 2024. In adherence to regulations, candidates must possess an Eligibility Certificate (EC) issued by the National Medical Commission to apply for the Screening Test. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice and an advisory on this requirement, both dated March 4, 2024.

In light of past instances of errors in EC applications, the Board has outlined precautionary measures to prevent such occurrences:

  1. Personal Application: Candidates are encouraged to personally fill out their applications and avoid proxies.
  2. Document Preparedness: It is advised that candidates have their documents readily available before filling out the EC application. Entries should be cross-checked with original documents to ensure accuracy.
  3. Active Mobile Numbers: Candidates are urged to provide active mobile numbers to receive alerts regarding any deficiencies in their applications. Prompt rectification of deficiencies is essential to avoid last-minute complications.
  4. Scrutiny of Entries: Candidates must meticulously review their entries to ensure alignment with details in the original documents, facilitating swift processing and approval of applications if deemed eligible.

These recommendations aim to streamline the application process and minimize errors. However, candidates are reminded to exercise due diligence and ensure the provided mobile numbers remain active.

The application process for the EC is exclusively online through the National Medical Commission’s website. The timeline for application submission is as follows:

Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be summarily rejected. The application portal will subsequently close.

Candidates seeking further clarification or correspondence regarding their applications are instructed to provide their file Tracking Number and contact [email protected] or [email protected].

It is advised that candidates refer to the public notices dated December 11, 2018, April 5, 2019, and November 22, 2023, on the NMC website to confirm the requirement for the Eligibility Certificate.
