The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has issued a circular clarifying that no fees will be charged for Continuing Nursing Education (CNE). The INC has observed that the State Nursing Registration Councils (SNRCs) are charging fees to grant CNE hours.
CNE is a mandatory requirement for the renewal of registration of nurses and midwives every 5 years. It also promotes professional and personal development of nurses. INC itself grants CNE and it is not chargeable. The INC has therefore categorically stated that SNRCs shall not charge any fees from either the nursing institutions conducting CNEs or from nurses.
Furthermore, SNRCs shall encourage nursing institutions to conduct CNEs. Additionally, the INC will launch a portal for uploading information by nursing institutions on the CNE. This portal will be integrated with NRTS.
The SNRCs will be able to use the portal to check the CNE details of the nurses and renew their registrations.
