The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has issued a notification requesting all nursing colleges/ schools to participate in a CPR Awareness Programme. This programme is scheduled to take place on December 6, 2023 at 9:30am. The public notice was issued on November 20, 2023.

CPR Awareness Program

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will organise this CPR Awareness Program. Operating as an Autonomous Body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW), NBEMS seeks to raise awareness and deliver training in the effective administration of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The programme is specifically designed for young individuals and those without a medical background nationwide.

This initiative will feature a brief video outlining the advantages of CPR and providing instructions on its proper implementation. Additionally, a doctor will be available at each location to address any inquiries from participants. Moreover, NBEMS plans to issue a Digital Certificate of Participation to all participants of the programme.

Participation of Nursing Colleges

Hence, nursing schools/ colleges nationwide are encouraged to actively participate in the NBEMS CPR Awareness Programme. The institutions may utilise their auditoriums or lecture halls for displaying the CPR video with suitable audio support. NBEMS will share the web page for accessing the video and additional details in due course.

To confirm participation, nursing colleges are requested to inform NBEMS via email at [email protected]. Nursing colleges should provide contact details for the nodal person who will coordinate with NBEMS. Additionally, they shall also complete a Google form. This form includes contact details of the nodal person.

Moreover, participating colleges are required to upload a minimum of 3-4 photographs showcasing the organization of the CPR Awareness Program on a designated link, which NBEMS will provide in the coming days.

This NBEMS initiative is collaborative effort towards building a more informed and prepared community, emphasizing the importance of timely and effective CPR administration in saving lives.
