The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice requesting all medical colleges to participate in a CPR Awareness Program. This programme is scheduled to take place on December 6, 2023 at 9:30am. The public notice was issued on November 16, 2023.
CPR Awareness Program
The CPR Awareness Program will be organised by National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). NBEMS is an Autonomous Body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW). The program aims to spread awareness and provide essential training in administering Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) effectively. It is targeted towards the youth and non-medical personnel across the country.
This comprehensive program will include a short video explaining the benefits of CPR and how to impart it. A doctor will also be present at each venue to address queries from participants. Furthermore, NBEMS will issue a Digital Certificate of Participation to all attendees.
Participation of Medical Colleges
Hence, medical colleges nationwide are encouraged to actively participate in the NBEMS CPR Awareness Programme. They can utilise their auditoriums or lecture halls for displaying the CPR video with suitable audio support. NBEMS will share the web page for accessing the video and additional details in due course.
To confirm participation, medical colleges are requested to inform NBEMS via email at [email protected]. Medical colleges should provide contact details for the nodal person who will coordinate with NBEMS. Additionally, medical colleges shall also complete a Google form. This form includes contact details of the nodal person and a list of at least 2-3 doctors who will volunteer their services at other venues within the same city.
Moreover, participating medical colleges are required to upload a minimum of 3-4 photographs showcasing the organization of the CPR Awareness Program on a designated link, which NBEMS will provide in the coming days.
This NBEMS initiative is collaborative effort towards building a more informed and prepared community, emphasizing the importance of timely and effective CPR administration in saving lives.
