The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a notice on its process for implementation of Aadhaar Authentication in DIGI-PHARMed Portal. This notice was issued on December 13, 2023.
It may be recalled that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) had authosized PCI to conduct Aadhaar authentication on a voluntary basis. This authorisation was dated November 23, 2023.
The PCI is empowered to perform Aadhaar authentication for the following purposes:
- Authenticating Officials, Faculty, and Students on the Portal
- Capturing Faculty Attendance through Biometrics
The PCI envisions the implementation of Aadhaar authentication in its DIGI-PHARMed Portal. This will propel total digitalization of registration or enrollment services. It will also ensure authentication of end users such as pharmacists, faculties, students and pharmacy institutions. It will also bolster user satisfaction , promote ease of doing business, processing of registration applications. Ultimately, the PCI is of the opinion, that the new process will enhance productivity and transparency in administrative functioning.
Therefore, the PCI has started the process of integrating Aadhaar authentication for pharmacists, faculties, students and pharmacy institutions. After the completion of the integration, PCI will begin the authentication of all data of pharmacists, faculties and students.
Hence, all institutions are requested to submit accurate data in the SIF/ PCI Portal as per Aadhaar details. If any wrong information is provided or there is any failure in the authentication process, strict legal actions will be taken against the concerned institution and individual. This may include prosecution.
