Chief Minister of Gujarat, while participating in the seminar on port-led development under Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2024 stated that a new history of prosperity has been created through ports in the country. Gujarat, too, has embraced the mantra of “Ports for Prosperity and Ports for Progress.” This Notification was published on 11.01.2024.
The Chief Minister of Gujarat showcased the state’s unparalleled potential with its expansive 1600-kilometer coastline, proudly holding the title of India’s longest coastal stretch. Emphasizing strategic initiatives guided by the Prime Minister, the government aims to elevate Gujarat’s coastline into a pivotal gateway for national prosperity. Gujarat is actively engaged in concurrent projects, including the expansion and enhancement of existing ports, the establishment of new port cities, and the development of greenfield ports. With over 49 ports, encompassing both major and minor, the state plays a pivotal role in handling approximately 39% of the country’s cargo. The Chief Minister underscored Gujarat’s robust road connectivity and maritime development, contributing significantly to its impressive ranking in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) index. The state’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and port-led city development aligns seamlessly with the Prime Minister’s visionary goals. Highlighting Gujarat’s remarkable urbanization, the Chief Minister proudly stated that the state is the fifth most urbanized in the country. He emphasized the noteworthy milestones achieved in urban development and stressed the crucial role of fostering a vibrant economy through sustainable infrastructure in cities near ports.
