The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued scheme guidelines for implementation of Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Program under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). This notification was issued on January 16, 2024.
The MNRE has stated that the President of India as sanctioned the scheme for procurement of green ammonia and green hydrogen under Mode-2A and 2B of the SIGHT Program.
The objectives of these schemes, both in relation to green ammonia and green hydrogen, are as follows:
- maximize production in India
- enhance cost-competitiveness of as against fossil-based alternatives
- encourage large-scale utilization
The Scheme in respect of green ammonia will be implemented by MNRE through Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Whereas the Scheme for green hydrogen will be implemented by Oil & Gas Companies and Centre for High Technology.
