The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has revised standards for Crop Protection Equipment. The BIS has established IS 1971 : 2023 Crop Protection Equipment — Hand- Operated Stirrup-Type Sprayer — Specification (Sixth Revision) on 13th October, 2023.
BIS introduces Standards for several Plant Products used in Traditional Medicine
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced 33 standards for plant products used in traditional medicine. Additionally, BIS has also introduced a new standard, for smart transportation, i.e. IS 18311 : 2023 Smart Community Infrastructures — Smart Transportation for Rapid Transit in and Between Large City Zones and their Surrounding Areas — Guidelines.

BIS revises Standards for Petroleum and Other Products
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has revised certain standards for Petroleum Products. This notification was published on 11th September, 2023. It has also established two new standards; IS 18387 : 2023 Gypsum Ceiling Tiles — Specification and IS/ISO 22383 : 2020 Security and Resilience — Authenticity, Integrity and Trust for Products and Documents — Guidelines for the Selection and Performance Evaluation of Authentication Solutions for Material Goods.
Centre Notifies Third Phase of Mandatory Hallmarking
An additional 55 new districts have been brought under the ambit of the mandatory hallmarking system. These districts have been included in the system following the establishment of hallmarking centers after the implementation of the second phase of the mandatory hallmarking order.

Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Quality Control) Order, 2023
The Order aims to regulate the manufacturing and use of these essential components and enhance their reliability and safety across sectors. The order shall come into force from 21st January, 2024.
Insulated Flask , Bottles and Containers for Domestic Use (Quality Control) Order, 2023
According to the Order, specified goods or articles shall comply with the Indian Standards. Additionally, these goods must bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
