CPCB categorizes Semi-conductor Manufacturing Industries under its Harmonization of Classification of Industrial Sectors
The CPCB has instructed all SPCBs and PCCs to adopt and implement the categorisation of semi-conductor manufacturing industries and submit the Action Taken Report by 20th September, 2023.
Certified RECD Vendors for Diesel Generators (Up to 1000 KVA) Announced
The list of certified vendors for the Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD) applicable to Diesel Generators (DG) up to 1000 KVA has been released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). These certifications are essential to ensure the environmental compliance and efficiency of DG sets. As of August 30, 2023, the following vendors have been certified for different capacity ranges.
Extension in release of Imported Consignments of Producers of 106 EEE items
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has clarified that the interim arrangement of release of imported consignments of producers of 106 EEE items shall be extended to 15th September, 2023. It may be recalled that CPCB had previously notified that this interim arrangement would be effective till 31st August, 2023.
PWPs directed to complete Generation of EPR Certificates
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has directed all Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs) to complete Generation of EPR Certificates. The EPR Certificates for sales made in 2022-2023 must be generated on the Centralised EPR Portal for plastic packaging by 31st October, 2023.
XXXVIth Analytical Quality Control (AQC) Exercise
The AQC Exercise is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and reliability of environmental data produced by laboratories recognized under the Environmental Protection Act of 1986, as well as the environmental laboratories operated by CPCB, State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs), and Pollution Control Committees (PCCs).
Guidelines on Management of Pyro-metallurgical Slags (Copper Smelters)
Pyro-metallurgical slags are classified as “High Volume Low Effect Waste” (HVLE waste) under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. The management of these waste types will be governed by separate guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board.

Comments Invited on Draft Framework for Generation of EPR Certificates for Key Metals
In the initial two years, EPR certificates will be generated for Gold (Au), Non-Ferrous Metals (Al and Cu), and Iron (including steel and galvanized iron). However, the EPR Certificate framework also leaves room for Rare Earth and other precious materials to be considered and incentivized under the EPR regime.
