MNRE Takes Steps To Address Solar Waste
The E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, lay down stringent guidelines for manufacturers and producers of solar photo-voltaic modules, panels, or cells.
Waste Tyre Recyclers and E-Waste Recyclers Directed to Generate EPR End Product Credits
To participate in this interim arrangement, recyclers are required to maintain meticulous records, including procurement of raw materials, sales of end products, and EPR certificate transactions in an Excel sheet format. The aim is to create a transparent and efficient system for tracking waste tyre management and recycling.
Comments Invited on Draft Framework for Generation of EPR Certificates for Key Metals
In the initial two years, EPR certificates will be generated for Gold (Au), Non-Ferrous Metals (Al and Cu), and Iron (including steel and galvanized iron). However, the EPR Certificate framework also leaves room for Rare Earth and other precious materials to be considered and incentivized under the EPR regime.

Recyclers must Generate EPR Certificates through EPR Portal
Recyclers who handle electronic waste are now mandated to maintain records of sales and purchases of different recovered materials and e-waste through invoices linked to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. These records are essential for generating the EPR Certificate on the EPR Portal. In order to comply with this requirement, recyclers must adopt e-invoices through the GST Portal for the sale and purchase of various recovered materials and e-waste.
