FSSAI Labs testing Fortified Rice to Report Results on Infolnet Portal
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an order mandating that FSSAI notified laboratories must upload test reports of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) and Vitamin-Mineral Premix for FRK on the Infolnet Portal. Additionally, all these laboratories must also submit monthly reports of tests carried out by them.
FSSAI publishes Updated List of Recognised Food Testing Laboratories
The present list includes the validity of the laboratories’ NABL accreditation, scope of testing as on 26th October, 2023 for the purpose of carrying out the analysis of food samples taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules and Regulations made thereunder.
FSSAI publishes list of Notified Laboratories for Testing of Fortificants
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has published a list of notified laboratories for testing of fortificants in fortified rice products such as Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) and premix for Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK). These laboratories will be testing fortificants comprising of iron, vitamin B12 and vitamin B9.
FSSAI revokes Suspension of Food Testing Laboratories
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has announced the immediate revocation of the suspension of six laboratories. The revocation of suspension implies that the specified laboratories can now resume their regular operations and continue ensuring the safety and quality of food products.
Amendment in Export Policy of Food Supplements Containing Botanicals
This amendment introduces stricter regulations on the export of food supplements containing botanicals to the EU and UK, aiming to ensure the quality and safety of such products for human and animal consumption. The involvement of designated Competent Authorities and accredited laboratories will enhance the scrutiny and verification of these supplements before export.

FSSAI clarifies on Procedures for Sending of Referral samples to National Food Laboratories
FSSAI has issued an advisory stating that if a food sample has already been tested in any of the primary notified laboratories under private partnership, regardless of their geographical location, the appeal/referral sample shall not be sent to the corresponding National Food Laboratory.
FSSAI notifies Referral Food Laboratories
The order states that appellate/ referral samples may be sent to any referral laboratory as per their valid NABL scope of testing irrespective of their areas of jurisdiction.
FSSAI notifies Conditions for Validity and Recognition of the FSSAI Notified Laboratories
According to the latest directives, FSSAI will only consider fresh proposals from laboratories seeking recognition and notification if they have obtained accreditation under the FSSAI-NABL Integrated Assessment.
