The regulations will be applicable to medical colleges approved for admitting MBBS students annually. They outline the minimum requirements for accommodation in the college and its associated teaching hospitals, as well as the necessary staff (teaching and technical) and equipment in various college departments and hospitals.
Draft National Medical Commission (Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education) Regulations, 2023
These regulations contemplate an annual disclosure report to be submitted by medical colleges and medical institutions to the UGMEB or the PGMEB, as the case may be. The Boards will then evaluate these reports to verify if the medical colleges or medical institutions satisfy the conditions or regulations issued by NMC from time to time.
NMC withdraws Guidelines under Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023
The NMC has emphatically declared that the Guidelines under Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023, stands “WITHDRAWN AND CANCELLED” with immediate effect.
NMC announces availability of recognised Postgraduate Broad Speciality Seats for Academic Session 2023
Since the counselling process of NEET-PG 2023 will be commencing shortly, NMC has decided that all existing recognised PG Broad Speciality Seats available with the medical colleges/ institutes will be considered for admission for Academic Session 2023 and seat matrix will be prepared accordingly.
Department of Health Research mandates Registration of Ethics Committees for Medical and Health Research
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the Department of Health Research (DHR) has informed that all Ethics Committees associated with Medical and Health Research involving human participants must be registered with the department. The NMC has therefore directed that all medical colleges and postgraduate institutes to promptly initiate the registration process for their respective Ethics Committees.
UGMEB issues clarifications on Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023
The UGMEB states that previous procedures/ rules (as per Information Bulletin by NTA) will be followed for deciding the “inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking”. This will be utilised for NEET-UG 2023 result. Additionally, the notice also amends the Eligibility criteria for taking NEET-UG.
UGMEB issues New Guidelines for MBBS Course

These draft regulations are now open for public comments. Interested parties are requested to share their comments within 30 days of the publication of this notice, i.e. by 9th July, 2023.

Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has introduced a new mandate stating that no medical college or medical institution can be established, and no new medical course can be started without obtaining written permission from the MARB. Medical institutions must obtain permission from the MARB to increase the number of seats.
