NMC announces availability of recognised Postgraduate Broad Speciality Seats for Academic Session 2023
Since the counselling process of NEET-PG 2023 will be commencing shortly, NMC has decided that all existing recognised PG Broad Speciality Seats available with the medical colleges/ institutes will be considered for admission for Academic Session 2023 and seat matrix will be prepared accordingly.
NMC publishes details of Candidates admitted through NEET PG 2022
The publication of these details on the website of the NMC will facilitate the aspiring medical students seeking admission in PG medical courses. Additionally, it will also aid State Medical Councils in the registration of additional qualifications of the registered medical practitioners (RMPs).
Department of Health Research mandates Registration of Ethics Committees for Medical and Health Research
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the Department of Health Research (DHR) has informed that all Ethics Committees associated with Medical and Health Research involving human participants must be registered with the department. The NMC has therefore directed that all medical colleges and postgraduate institutes to promptly initiate the registration process for their respective Ethics Committees.
UGMEB issues clarifications on Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023
The UGMEB states that previous procedures/ rules (as per Information Bulletin by NTA) will be followed for deciding the “inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking”. This will be utilised for NEET-UG 2023 result. Additionally, the notice also amends the Eligibility criteria for taking NEET-UG.
UGMEB issues New Guidelines for MBBS Course
The Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) has released a circular setting out comprehensive guidelines for the MBBS course in response to the recently published Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. The newly issued guidelines encompass various aspects of the MBBS course, aiming to enhance the quality of medical education and ensure the well-rounded development of future medical professionals.
Applications Open for Various Positions in the NMC
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has invited applications for the positions of Chairman, Secretary, and Member of the National Medical Commission (NMC), as well as President and Members of the Autonomous Boards of the NMC. The last date for receipt of applications is 30th June, 2023, no later than 4 pm Indian Standard Time.
Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023
These regulations set forth new guidelines for medical institutions and deemed universities to improve the quality of undergraduate medical education and ensure the overall welfare of students. Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has introduced a new mandate stating that no medical college or medical institution can be established, and no new medical course can be started without obtaining written permission from the MARB. Medical institutions must obtain permission from the MARB to increase the number of seats.
NMC issues an Alert on Fake Letters regarding NET
All stakeholders are requested to note that important letters, circulars and public notices are posted on the NMC website. Hence the genuineness of letters, circulars and public notices can always be verified from the website. Reliance should be placed only upon those letters, circulars and public notices available on the NMC website.
NMC requests submission of Compliance Report on Anti-Ragging Measures, Incidents and Action Taken
Medical colleges/ institutes are required to comply with the Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Medical Colleges and Institutions Regulations, 2021 and submit the compliance report to the NMC by 30th June, 2023.
