MoP withdraws Guidelines regarding Discoms drawing Power after Expiry of PPA
Post PPA expiration, both parties are afforded the liberty to decide whether to enter into another agreement for the purchase or sale of power. Alternatively, the generator has the option to sell power through exchanges or enter into bilateral agreements with entities of their choosing. Electricity (Third Amendment) Rules, 2023
The Ministry of Power (MoP) has introduced amendments to the Electricity Rules of 2005, in the form of the “Electricity (Third Amendment) Rules, 2023.” These amendments have come into effect from 1st September, 2023. They aim to provide clarity on the definition and status of captive users for generating plants.
GENCOs directed to Import Coal in Timely Manner

Amendments in Bidding Documents for lnter-State Transmission Services
The Ministry noted that several private transmission developers had encountered challenges in meeting the technical requirements for bidding on HVDC systems via the TBCB route, specifically related to the qualifying criterion regarding the aggregate capital cost of projects and aggregate payments received (CAPEX) to be fulfilled by the bidding company or lead member of the Bidding Consortium.
