India Witnesses Reduction in Drug-Resistant TB Cases
India has scaled up the availability of molecular diagnostic facilities. This effort has resulted in an increased proportion of TB patients being screened for the presence of drug resistance. Under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), there has also been a consistent and regular supply of Anti-TB drugs to all states and union territories (UTs) throughout the year.
WHO acknowledges India’s Success in the TB Report 2023
The report applauds India’s efforts, resulting in a 16% reduction in TB incidence in 2022, outpacing the global decline rate. TB mortality has also seen an 18% decrease both in India and globally, leading to a significant downward revision in mortality rates.
Indian Air Force Joins “Ni-kshay Mitra” Scheme in Commitment to TB Elimination
To signify their commitment to this cause, the Indian Air Force organized an event at the Central TB Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, in Delhi on August 23, 2023. The IAF team, led by Air Marshal RK Anand VSM, Air Officer-in-charge Administration, officially handed over a contribution of Rs 46 lakhs.
