The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare has inaugurated the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) Sub Zonal office and Central Drug Testing Laboratory (CDTL) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on January 7, 2024. The inauguration ceremony also witnessed the laying of the foundation stone for various facilities in AIIMS Bhopal and the unveiling of multiple healthcare initiatives across the state.

The Union Minister emphasized that monitoring the quality of medicines through these facilities will ensure access to high-quality medications for citizens. He underscored the importance of regulatory functions in promoting ease of doing business for pharmaceutical industries in Madhya Pradesh.

The Central Drug Testing Laboratory, equipped with high-quality laboratory services, will play a crucial role in testing drugs, ensuring the availability of essential and high-quality medicines to improve the health of citizens. The facility is equipped with advanced instruments, including 12 HPLCs, 1 GLC, and 1 UV Spectrophotometer.

Six new health facilities at AIIMS Bhopal were also inaugurated, aligning with the vision of establishing AIIMS-like institutions across all states in the country. These facilities include a Drone Station, Dexa Scan Suit, Gym Complex, Trauma & Emergency Operation Theatre Complex, Cobas 5800 System for Viral Load Assay (First Installation in India), and a Private Ward Complex with 16 fully Furnished Private Rooms.

Addressing the diamond jubilee celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Indore, the Minister highlighted the association of the institute with Mahatma Gandhi’s principles. During the ceremony, he inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College alumni network, released a postal stamp and a diamond jubilee souvenir of the institute, and launched the book “Essential Pediatrics” written by Dr. V K Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog.

He also commended the residents of Indore for their exemplary cleanliness and their active participation in preventive healthcare initiatives. He announced the expansion of the “Health of Indore” campaign to a nationwide scale, conducting preventive health care tests for over 10 lakh people in more than 10 cities across the country. The event concluded with the launch of the “Health of Indore” book and the “Health of Indore” bot.
